THE STORY

Having built the winery in 2011 and crushed the first grapes in 2012, the Pekhale family is a recent arrival on the wine scene at Vinchur Wine Park. Though they own 40 acres of land, all the grapes are bought in from local growers. Most of the production is based on Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, as the wines are sold to Sula in bulk.

A tiny proportion of the production used to be labelled under its own brand of Senorita Reve Premium, a non-vintage Cabernet Sauvignon. However, as the family lacks marketing expertise, this was soon discontinued. To satisfy the needs of the surrounding villages, Sunmeera produces wines from Bangalore Blue and Bangalore Purple, generating much-needed cash from these sub-entry-level products.
