Meet our team
Peter is a wine writer living in North Somerset, the UK and with a country-home in Hungary’s Somló wine region too. His articles also appeared in the columns of Hungarian, Indian, US and UK wine magazines.
As the author of The Wines of India, a Concise Guide, the OIV award-winning title of The Press Publishing, he has been featured on BBC World News and in The Hindustan Times.
An English literature, economics and pedagogy graduate from the University of Budapest, Peter joined the UK wine trade in 2005 and worked as the education manager of the Institute of Masters of Wine until 2014. He completed the WSET Diploma in London, became a certified Sherry educator in Jerez and ran Royal Somló Vineyards, crafting Juhfark wines for Michelin-star restaurants, between 2007 and 2022. Peter regularly reviews the wines of Bordeaux, Chianti, Germany and India. He was the recipient of the 2014 Geoffrey Roberts Award.
Having moved into corporate life, he is the Head of HR for Tetra Pak in the UK, Ireland & the Benelux. Peter completed an LLM in labour law and corporate governance with distinction at the University of Bristol in 2022.
Peter is also a judge for Decanter World Wine Awards and has been the Acting Regional Chair for the Asia panel in 2020, 2021 & 2023. He has judged for other international wine competitions, including the International Wine & Spirit Competition. Peter regularly teaches wine in India and is a WSET-approved educator.
Omar is a veteran of the media & branding industries. After formative years at the BBC, he worked for world-renowned agency Lambie-Nairn and boutique Kemistry before founding & growing his own agency Studio Hansa.
Omar has first-hand experience in directing accounts, leading client-facing teams and providing board leadership for organisations. He has worked with clients in the UK, India, the USA, Qatar, Egypt, the Netherlands, France, Hungary & many more places.
With a sharp eye for design and a mind focussed on the customer, Omar ensures that The Wines of India delivers first-class experience for its members & affiliate partners.
Omar speaks five languages fluently: Dutch, English, French, Italian and German; and has a basic grasp of Hungarian. He enjoy making new connections & exploring new commercial opportunities.
Originally studying fashion design at the Art School of Utrecht, Omar also pursued French literature & cinema studies at Birkbeck College, University of London. Later he obtained his WSET certification in France and successfully managed Royal Somló Vineyards, achieving listings in Michelin-star restaurants in Sweden, the Netherlands and the UK. A good taster and avid explorer of wines.
