Goa

The smallest state in India, Goa has a rich Portuguese heritage. As a colony of Portugal for over 450 years, up until 1961, grapes and wines are intertwined with its culture. Unfortunately, there are only three wineries in the state today and the one that produces good quality wines sources its grapes from Maharashtra. The other two wineries supposedly rely on locally grown Bangalore Blue, but just one is featured in this guide as the other was impossible to contact.

Today, Goa’s more significant role is as a consumer market, due largely to the number of tourists visiting this earthly paradise in pursuit of its tranquillity and tropical beaches.
